What is Greenservative suitable for?
Greenservative works best in the following types of products:
-
Emulsions (oil-in-water and water-in-oil): This is where Greenservative shines. Think of day and night creams, body lotions, and conditioners.
-
Anhydrous products: Perfect for water-free formulas, such as body butters, lip balms, and oil scrubs.
-
Shampoos and shower gels: Can also be used in so-called 'surfactant-based' products, which contain detergents.
Please note: Greenservative is not soluble in water. Therefore, it is less suitable for products that consist mainly of water, such as a facial tonic, room spray or a hydrosol. The product will not dissolve completely and can sink to the bottom, so that your product is not properly preserved.
What's in GreenServative?
GreenServative is composed of a mixture of active ingredients.
Benzoic acid Occurs naturally in various foods and plant sources. It has powerful preservative properties that help fight bacteria and fungi. It is also highly soluble in water and easy to mix in different products. Benzoic acid has a slightly acidic property, so it can also help ensure the correct pH level of your product.
Sorbic acid is found naturally in some berries, such as the rowan. In addition, it works well for formulations with different acidity levels. Like benzoic acid, sorbic acid can exhibit "synergistic" effects when combined with other preservatives. This means that the combination of these active compounds can result in greater inhibition of microbial growth than when used alone. That's what makes it so effective!
Propanediol is a star in retaining moisture, keeping the skin hydrated. This substance, which is extracted from corn, among other things, can also help soften and smooth the skin. Finally, Propanediol is known for its mild properties, making it suitable for use on a variety of skin types, including sensitive skin.
How to use GreenServative?
Add between 0.5% and 1.5% of GreenServative during the cooling phase (about 40°C) of the formulation. This ensures an even distribution of the preservative in your product. GreenServative works best within a pH range of 4.0 to 6.5.
Please note: Store GreenServative in a cool, dark place in a tightly sealed container. Keep out of reach of children.
