What is Glycolic Acid?

Glycolic acid falls under the Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), or fruit acids. Fruit acids are natural, organic acids that can be found in foods such as milk, fruit or, in the case of glycolic acid, sugar cane. Glycolic acid is soluble in water and consists of small molecules. As a result, it penetrates deeper into the skin, but can also irritate a little faster. Glycolic acid is therefore not recommended for sensitive skin. It is very suitable for dry, older skin. It helps the skin retain moisture and reduce superficial wrinkles and pigmentation spots. Anti-aging in a bag!

What are the benefits of Glycolic Acid?

Exfoliates the skin
Glycolic acid removes dead skin cells and stimulates cell renewal. The result? A fresh and radiant skin. Please note: regular exfoliation can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight.

Reduces pigmentation spots With regular use, pigmentation spots can light up.

For pimples and blackheads
Glycolic acid ensures better sebum removal by clearing the pores.

Skin aging Glycolic acid moisturizes the skin and helps reduce superficial wrinkles.

How to use Glycolic Acid?

DIY crème

Add 5-10% to the water phase of your DIY cream.

pH value

AHA ingredients work best in a product with a pH level of 3.8-4.4. Too high a pH value of the product causes Glycolic Acid to neutralize and thus lose its effectiveness. At a pH value of 4.5-5, Glycolic Acid loses its exfoliating effect, but still has a moisturizing effect.
