Wat is diatomaceous earth?

Diatomaceous earth consists almost entirely of silica (about 80-90%), a substance that is important for a healthy build-up of skin, hair and nails. In addition to silica, diatomaceous earth is also rich in calcium, magnesium, zinc and copper and is wonderful to use as a light scrub and mask to gently cleanse the skin and rid it of dirt and dead skin cells. And the minerals will give your skin an instant boost!

It is also a valuable addition to your oral care routine due to its mildly abrasive properties. Diatomaceous earth reduces stains and discoloration on your teeth without affecting the enamel.

How do you use it?

For your skin as a mild scrub or mask, you can mix diatomaceous earth with some water, aloe vera juice or oil and apply it to your skin. Massage it in lightly with your fingertips or leave it on your face for 10-15 minutes, after which rinse off with lukewarm water.

If you want to use it as part of your oral care, you can sprinkle a little diatomaceous earth on top of your toothpaste on your toothbrush and then brush your teeth. Because it has abrasive properties and works effectively, you only need to use a small amount, and there is no need to use it every day.
