What is Castor Oil?

Castor oil is also known as castor oil and that is because it has many extraordinary uses. This castor oil is 100% vegetable and organic and is made with great care from seeds of the green fruits from the miracle tree: the Ricinus Communis. The tree is cultivated in India, East Africa and the southeastern Mediterranean Sea.

What makes castor oil so special is that it consists of about 85 to 90% ricinoleic acid. This is a unique fatty acid that is not found in virtually any other vegetable oil. It gives the oil its thick, chewy texture and its prominence to richly care for and pack skin, hair, eyelashes and eyebrows.

How to use Castor oil for your hair?

Castor oil is the oil to give your hair the ultimate care. Castor oil makes damaged and dull hair (for example by dyeing, blow-drying and styling) grow longer and healthier, so that you have beautiful and shiny hair again.

Apply a little oil to the hands and distribute it through slightly damp hair and on the scalp. Let the oil work for a few hours and then wash the hair with your usual shampoo. Castor oil is a full and thick oil and can sometimes be difficult to wash out of the hair. Therefore, it is recommended to dilute the oil with a lighter oil such as almond oil or coconut oil. You can apply the oil to the hair several times a week.

How to use Castor oil for eyelashes and eyebrows?

Castor oil is a popular natural remedy for eyelashes and eyebrows, but apply it smartly. Pure castor oil is too thick and tough for the fine hairs, and mainly remains on the outside as a film layer. Therefore, always dilute the oil with a lighter oil such as jojoba oil or argan oil, in a ratio of about 1 to 3. This way the hairs are well-groomed, shiny and fuller in appearance, without it becoming too heavy.

For convenience, apply the mixture to an old mascara brush or cotton swab so that you can distribute the oil evenly over the lashes and brows. You can use the oil daily. Be careful that the oil does not end up in your eyes.

How to use Castor oil for your skin?

Castor oil has a separate role in skin care. Due to its thick structure, it stays on the skin for a long time and forms a protective layer that prevents moisture loss. But what makes castor oil really special is that it works very well for oily or combination skin. That sounds contradictory, but the ricinoleic acid has a light cleansing effect and helps to dissolve excess sebum, without drying out the skin.

That's why castor oil is an ideal ingredient in an oil cleanser. According to the oil cleansing principle, oil dissolves sebum, not water. A mixture of about 20 to 30% castor oil with 70 to 80% lighter oil such as jojoba oil or sweet almond oil thoroughly cleanses the skin without disrupting the natural skin barrier. Massage the mixture into dry skin, place a warm washcloth on top and wipe.

How do you use Castor oil for your beard?

Castor oil knows how to nourish the beard like no other. Due to the stimulating effect, bald and thinner spots in your beard are intensely cared for, so that a full and even beard grows again. Castor oil also works effectively on the mustache.

Apply the oil to your hands and massage into beard and mustache. Give some extra attention to the spots that could use more oil. You can use the oil daily, but applying it two to four times a week also works great for the desired effect.

Tips for using Castor oil

• Castor oil is a remarkably thick and tough oil. That's part of it and is due to the unique composition.
• For use on hair, eyelashes and eyebrows or as a facial cleanser, it is best to mix the oil with a lighter oil such as jojoba oil, argan oil or sweet almond oil. Pure castor oil is often too heavy for those applications.
• The 100 ml bottle has a wide neck and is therefore not compatible with a pipette.
