BioSmooth - Conditioning Wax, also known as Varisoft EQ 65 MB, is an eco-friendly and biodegradable conditioning substance derived from stearic acid, which provides rich, creamy textures in hair and skincare products. It promotes excellent comb properties, both wet and dry, and delivers a powdery skin feel without oiliness. This ester quat makes hair treatments and emulsions less heavy and gives an increased shine and softness to the hair.

How is BioSmooth - Conditioning Wax made?

BioSmooth - Conditioning Wax is made by specifically reactivating stearic acid (a fatty acid) with a quaternary ammonium compound in a process called esterification. This creates a so-called 'ester quat', the active ingredient with conditioning properties. These branched chains of the ester quat adhere easily to the hair and skin, making them soft and easy to handle.

How to use BioSmooth - Conditioning Wax:

Want to make your own hair conditioner? Then BioSmooth - Conditioning Wax is indispensable! With a melting point of 75-85°C, it can be mixed with the water phase of a formula. The recommended dosage is between 1-10%. This conditioning substance works best at a pH value of about 4 and can also be used in creams and lotion formulas.

Please note: BioSmooth can sometimes be difficult to melt, especially when you work in a bain marie. You get the best result by heating it directly in a measuring cup on a warming tray or placing the measuring cup in the oven. This way, the wax melts more evenly and faster. Allow the capsules to dissolve gently at temperature, stirring in between and avoiding prolonged boiling in water, as this may be less effective.
