This is not without reason: pine scent has a calming effect in situations with a lot of stimuli, promotes concentration and creates a positive feeling of surroundings. Scots pine is therefore also a wonderful essential oil to use as an air freshener at home. In addition, pine oil purifies the airways as if you were taking a real walk in the woods - very nice for colds or irritations when breathing. Scots pine essential oil also has a relaxing and pain-relieving effect when used on the skin, making the oil ideal as an addition to a massage oil.
Scots pine oil, as the name suggests, is extracted from the needles and twigs of the Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). This is done through steam distillation, a process in which steam is passed through the plant mass under low pressure. This brings the aromatic essences, which are collected and preserved.
Usage
When using on your skin, always dilute essential oil in a carrier oil or butter, such as almond or jojoba oil, and do not use more than 1 - 2% (1 - 2ml essential oil per 100ml carrier oil).
Apply the oil to cleansed skin where necessary. To inhale the essential oil or when used as an air freshener, use it in a oil lamp/diffuser or a scent block.
You can combine Scots pine essential oil well with eucalyptus, Lavender, Rosemary en tea tree olie.
