Distilled Water
What is Distilled Water?
Distilled water is actually tap water that has undergone an extra step: it has evaporated and then condensed again. This clever process removes all the extras, such as minerals and salts. What you are left with is pure, clean water.
Distilled water is really great for when you make your own care products or cleaning supplies. It has a neutral pH value and contains no electrolytes. That means it doesn't react unfavorably with the other ingredients in your DIY recipe.
Benefits
- Mega Pure: Because distilled water is so clean, it is perfect for cosmetics and personal care products. After all, you don't want unwanted bacteria in your homemade creams or cleaning sprays, right?
- Free from Minerals and Electrolytes: Normal tap water can sometimes mess up your DIY project because of the minerals it contains. With distilled water you don't have that problem.
How do you use it?
- In your homemade beauty products: Whether you're making a facial toner, soap, or makeup remover, distilled water is your best friend.
- For your own cleaning products: Distilled water also works wonders in cleaning products. No more bacteria in your homemade sprays!
DIY Tip: Mix 500 ml of distilled water with 3 tablespoons of Castile Soap, 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil and 10 drops of Lavender Essential Oil for a natural all-purpose cleaner. Just shake it and you're done!
Can you drink it?
Well, I'd rather not. Distilled water lacks the minerals your body needs. For your thirst, it is better to reach for plain mineral water or plain tap water.
Difference Between Demineralized and Distilled Water
Please note: distilled water is not the same as demineralized water. Distilled water goes through the distillation process and is even purer. With us you will find hydrosols that are made with distilled water.
