Why is Baobab Oil so good?

Baobab oil is made from the seed of the baobab fruit. These seeds are rich in nutritious fatty acids. The oil consists of about 30 to 40% oleic acid (omega 9) and 25 to 35% linoleic acid (omega 6). What makes baobab oil special is its high content of saturated fatty acids such as palmitic acid and stearic acid, together about 25 to 35%. As a result, this oil is remarkably stable and gives the skin a wonderfully nourishing feeling. This exotic oil is used for various skin complaints due to its purifying effect. This oil is therefore very good against dry, itchy or damaged skin, but also works great in the treatment of, for example, stretch marks and scars.

This oil also contains a lot of antioxidants that make the skin elastic and help to intensely care for dry skin. In addition, baobab oil moisturizes the skin and hair particularly well. The skin absorbs this gold-colored oil fairly quickly, which makes this oil very pleasant to use.

How is Baobab Oil made?

Baobab oil is made from the fruits of the baobab tree that is mainly found in Africa. The tree is known for its typical thick trunk with a circumference of up to ten meters. The fruits of the baobab tree are the same size as a coconut. You can also eat these fruits, monkeys love them anyway!

The seeds come from the baobab fruit and are thoroughly washed by the locals after collection. Then the hard seeds are cold-pressed. With a cold pressing, the temperature does not exceed 30 degrees so that all the nutritious substances of the seeds are preserved. During pressing, the oil is pressed out of the seeds, as it were. Then it is filtered and then the oil is ready for use. So no further oil is added to the baobab.

Does Baobab Oil get cloudy in the cold?

Yes, you can, and that's completely normal. Baobab oil naturally contains a fairly high proportion of saturated fatty acids, especially palmitic acid and stearic acid. At temperatures below 18 to 20 degrees, the oil can become cloudy or grainy. If it gets even colder, flakes can form or the oil can partially solidify.

That's just part of this oil and has nothing to do with the quality. It's how the natural fatty acids behave at lower temperatures. Let the bottle come to room temperature for a while or warm it between your hands, and the oil will become clear and liquid again.

How to use it

You often only need a few drops of baobab oil to give your skin and hair good care. This allows you to last a very long time with a small bottle, making it quite economical compared to other oils or creams.

It has a slight nutty scent and you can use the oil as a natural moisturizer. It is best to apply the oil daily to damp skin, for example after showering. This gold-colored oil can also be used in aromatherapy massages.

Do you want to use it for your hair? Then you let the oil soak into your hair for a while and then wash it out with shampoo.
