Why is Ylang Ylang Essential Oil so good?

Ylang Ylang is a tree with beautiful yellow flowers that originally comes from warm Indonesia, but this graceful tree now grows in several tropical places.

The essential oil made from the colorful flowers contains Countless antioxidants and sesquiterpenes. Sesquiterpenes help to increase the amount of oxygen in the brain, which greatly increases the production of endorphins, for example. This makes Ylang Ylang invigorating.

This oil is also known for its unique floral scent combat insomnia and fatigue. In addition, this oil regulates the oil-moisture balance of the skin, keeping your skin well hydrated and silky soft.

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil improves circulation and thereby reduces scars and unwanted spots on your body and face, among other things.

How is Ylang Ylang made?

Our Ylang Ylang does not come from tropical Indonesia, but is grown on a breathtaking landscape in the Madgaskar. You can smell the delicious scent of the fresh flowers from a considerable distance. The essential oil of Ylang Ylang is extracted from flowers of the Ylang Ylang tree through steam distillation.

Grades Ylang Ylang

There are different degrees of Ylang Ylang. This has to do with the duration and interruptions of steam distillation. For example, Ylang Ylang Extra and Ylang Ylang 1 usually contain more esters, making them more suitable against insomnia and nervous system. Ylang Ylang 2 and 3 contain more sesquiterpenes and therefore have more beneficial effects on the care of your skin and hair. Ylang Ylang Complete contains both properties and is therefore the most popular.

  • Ylang Ylang Extra:

Plants are distilled for 1 to 1.5 hours, after which the aromatic oil is separated. This oil is virtually colorless and has a delicious sweet and floral scent.

  • Ylang Ylang 1:

The steam distillation continues and after about 3 hours the process is interrupted to separate the aromatic oil. This oil smells a tad less sweet and has a light yellow color.

  • Ylang Ylang 2:

The distillation process of the plants is continued again and after about 5 hours the oil is separated. The oil has a (sometimes light) yellow color and smells slightly less sweet than Ylang Ylang 1.

  • Ylang Ylang 3:

For the last time, the steam distillation is continued and after 10 to 20 hours, everything is stopped to separate the aromatic oil. This oil is visibly thicker than its predecessors and has a yellow color.

  • Ylang Ylang Complete:

The plants are distilled for 10 to 20 hours without interrupting them. This oil has a rich floral and fruity scent. Ylang Ylang Complete is lighter in color and is slightly thicker than the other Ylang Ylang grades.

How to use it:

When using it on your skin, always dilute essential oil in a carrier oil, such as almond or jojoba oil, and do not use more than 1 - 2% (1 - 2ml essential oil per 100ml carrier oil).
