How is Rosehip oil made?
Rosehip oil is made from the seeds of the rosehip, the fruit of the rose bush. After the fruits have been harvested, the seeds are removed from the fruit and dried.
The oil is then extracted from these seeds by means of expeller pressing. This is a mechanical pressing process in which the oil is pressed from the seeds without the use of solvents.
After pressing, the oil is lightly refined. This means that color and odor are partially reduced, making the oil more stable and neutral in use.
This combination of expeller pressing and light refining creates an oil that is pleasant for cosmetic applications, with a milder scent and a lighter color than the unrefined variant.
