What is Elderflower Water?

Elderflower water is a Hydrosol and obtained by steam distillation of the flowers of the French Sambucus, or the common elder.

The flowers of the elderberry are small, white and have a strong fragrance and therefore provide a wonderful aroma.

Because of the scent and the medicinal properties, you can use Elderflower Water for anything. Add a subtle scent to your DIY product or use it pure as a face & body mist!

The blossom of the elderberry contains many different flavonoids such as quercetin, other antioxidants and vitamins and therefore has an anti-inflammatory, but also restorative effect.

What are the benefits of Elderflower Water?

Elderflower water is rich in nutrients and antioxidants, such as flavonoids, quercetin, vitamins A, B and C, choline and biotin. The antioxidants protect against free radical damage.

Due to the high concentration of flavonoids and other antioxidants, elderflower water has an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin.

Elderflower water has a soothing and restorative effect. This makes it an ideal product for dry skin that feels rough and chapped.

How do you use Elderflower water?

DIY-kleimasker
You can easily make a nourishing and restorative clay mask by mixing the Elderflower Water with white clay.

DIY Elderflower Ointment
Mix the Elderflower Water with Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter for a restorative Elderflower Ointment. Use an emulsifier such as Olivem to mix them together. This ointment is also good to use as an aftersun.

DIY Aftershave
Add Elderflower Water to your DIY aftershave to soothe razor cuts.

What is so special about Elderflower Water?

They already knew that Elderflower Water is healthy. The elder was then also called 'the miracle tree' because you could use it for anything. Hippocrates, for example, was a big fan of the tree! The young elder twigs used to be used to make whistles. The word 'flierefluiter' comes from there, funny isn't it?!
