What is Babassu Oil?

Babassu Oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the nuts of the Babassu palm (Attalea speciosa), a tree found mainly in Brazil. Babassu oil contains high levels of lauric acid (about 50%), along with myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, and oleic acid. These fatty acids give the oil its fantastic properties.

This moisturizing and soothing oil is ideal for drier and sensitive skin types. It is a lightweight oil and non-comedogenic. It does not close the pores, which makes it very suitable for oily skin as well.

Babassu Oil is obtained by means of Expeller pressing. This is a mechanical method of extracting oil from nuts. The seeds are passed through a screw press, which presses them under high pressure to extract the oil. This process generates heat due to the friction, but the oil remains rich in nutrients.

What are the benefits of Babassu Oil?

Moisturizes and softens the skin
Babassu Oil absorbs quickly into the skin and hydrates the skin without leaving a greasy film. This makes the oil very suitable for both dry and oily skin. How to use Babassu Oil?

As skin care
Babassu Oil is used pure on the skin or processed in DIY care. Use it as a moisturizer after cleansing your face, gently massage into the skin until it is absorbed.

As a make-up remover
Apply a few drops of the oil to your face and massage well for 1.5 minutes. Then remove with a lukewarm cloth.

As a body oil
Use Babassu Oil as a natural body oil. Apply the oil after showering or add some drops to the bath water for an extra nourishing bath.

As a pre-shampoo treatment
Apply a few drops of Babassu Oil to dry or damp hair and gently massage it into the scalp and through the length of the hair. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes to several hours before washing the hair with shampoo.

As a leave-in conditioner
Distribute a few drops of babassu oil evenly through damp hair, particularly on the ends, to add hydration and shine.

As a pre-styling treatment
