Wat is Vanille CO2 Extract (12% Vanillin)?

Vanilla CO2 Extract has the soft, luxurious aroma of vanilla. It doesn't smell like vanilla perfume but like fresh vanilla pods (vanilla beans), because that's what it's made of.

With more than 250 flavor components, fermented vanilla bean is one of the most complex flavors in existence. Fermented vanilla beans have a hay-like, metallic, phenolic, sweet base note. What? Yes, super complex.

Vanilla CO2 has a beautifully balanced aroma and taste that can be described as soft-spicy, rich, warm, sweet, rum-like, resinous and woody.

Vanilla CO2 is a delicious ingredient to use in your homemade care products or baked goods.

Did you know that this Vanilla CO2 extract is processed in our All Purpose Balm?

How is Vanilla CO2 Extract made?

Vanilla CO2 Extract is obtained by means of CO2 extraction, in which aromatic substances are released from the vanilla bean (Vanilla Planifolia) by means of high pressure.

Why is Vanilla so precious?

Almost all vanilla grown around the world is pollinated by hand. This makes it a very expensive and labour-intensive crop.

It takes about 4 to 5 years after planting for Vanilla to give its first flowers. It takes 600 hand-pollinated flowers to produce just 1 kilogram of cured vanilla pods. These are then hand-picked while still green and sold to special processing plants where they are sorted, blanched, steamed and sun-dried. They are then re-sorted, shade-dried and fermented while constantly being evaluated for aroma and individually checked for quality.

No wonder vanilla is such a precious commodity!

What is so special about it?

Officially, there is no such thing as Vanilla Essential Oil, because vanilla beans do not release aromatic oils during the traditional steam distillation process. Thanks to CO2 extraction, the aromatic substances in the oil are also preserved (vanillin), so that this CO2 Extract carries the delicious aroma of vanilla.

Warm, round and soft aroma

The warm, inviting scent of Vanilla brings you back home to yourself. The aroma soothes, removes tension and gives you a sense of security.

Vanilla CO2 Extract has a beautiful aroma that combines well with fresh, sharp scents, which immediately become soft and friendly. For example, consider a combination with Peppermint, Ylang Ylang or Sandalwood and discover how these scents transform by adding Vanilla CO2 Extract.

How do you use it?

Incorporate into perfume, massage oil or DIY creations

Vanilla CO2 is wonderful to process in oil-based perfumes, massage oils or other care products.

Use Vanilla CO2 Extract diluted with a base oil or processed in a care product. Do not let more than 3% of the end product consist of Vanilla CO2. Make sure you do not heat the Vanilla CO2 and add it to the cooling phase (below 40 degrees) of your recipe.

Incorporate into desserts, cake, ice cream, and tart

Our Vanilla CO2 Extract (12% Vanillin) is of food grade quality and can therefore also be eaten! You only need a drop for an intense taste experience. For example, put a few drops in your homemade cake and enjoy the overwhelming luxurious taste of Vanilla.

Can I use Vanilla CO2 in the diffuser?

The answer to this is Nee. Not only is it a shame to vaporize the Vanilla, but the viscous substance will not be properly distributed in your diffuser.

I can't get it out of the bottle?

Depending on the room temperature, it may be necessary to put the bottle in a layer of warm water (1 to 2 cm) so that the extract liquefies and the drops come out more easily. This is often necessary in cold temperatures.
