What is Arrowroot Powder?

Arrowroot Powder is a natural thickener for your DIY makeup and facial care products. Arrowroot helps to nourish your skin and makes your skin beautifully soft and smooth.

Arrowroot is a starch made from the roots of the arrowroot plant (Maranta Arundinacea) that grows in rainforests. The roots are washed and then ground into a liquid puree. This liquid is sieved into starch that is dried in the sun resulting in Arrowroot Powder.

Arrowroot is a natural thickener, with a finer structure than, for example, cornstarch. This allows it to absorb more moisture and allow your moisturizer or cream to penetrate deeper into the skin.

Absorbs sweat and sebum

Because Arrowroot absorbs more moisture, it also absorbs sweat, oil and sebum from your face. This ensures that you don't have to touch up makeup with Arrowroot powder as often.

Lightens your makeup by a touch

Adding Arrowroot Powder to your blushes, loose foundations, or eyeshadows will lighten the shade a few shades. So if your skin gets a bit paler in the winter, just add some Arrowroot to your foundation and the color will match your skin tone again.

How do you use it?

To make natural makeup

You can use Arrowroot Powder as a base for all your powder makeup. Just mix some Arrowroot Powder with Cacao Powder and discover what beautiful shades you can make. Or mix it with some Beetroot powder for all kinds of different shades of pink.

As a droogshampoo

Because Arrowroot absorbs moisture and grease, it is the ideal dry shampoo. Massage some of the powder onto your scalp and over the first few inches of your hair. Grease is absorbed and your hair becomes voluminous and soft. Use a damp cloth to gently pat the excess Arrowroot Powder out of your hair.
